Welcome!
Two groups of swashbuckling pirates encounter each other on a day out at sea. The first group sports a red banner, while the other group has a distinctive blue flag. Soon, a fight breaks out, and doubloons are flying everywhere. Who will prevail?
Such is the premise for the Pirate QSO Party, which will be hosted for the second time this year on the evening of Tuesday, September 22nd (three days after the official Talk Like a Pirate Day, which is always on the 19th). It is an opportunity for contesters to get together for a light-hearted exchange of QSOs, and perhaps win one of a few token prizes. A certain amount of pirate talk and silliness is definitely encouraged!
W6RRR, Pirate Captain and PQP Contest Co-ordinator, credits the inspiration for the contest to George Daughters (K6GT), who brought up the idea of a pirate contest at an NCCC meeting and then on the NCCC email reflector. Thank you as well to all who filled out the survey or posted ideas to the reflector, your help is definitely appreciated!
